Public Relations Advertising and Applied Communications

The PRAAC degree allows students to create more of their own degree program, allowing them to take courses in both Public Relations and Advertising as well as other types of communication (public speaking, communication studies, and digital media). It is different from the previous tracks in Advertising and Public Relations in that it focuses more clearly and specifically on the skills and topics related to Public Relations, Advertising, and related communication fields. Students are given more freedom to build their own skillset while still ensuring that the core skills and knowledge are still a part of the program.

This degree explores a number of disciplines needed for developing and delivering effective content. Through analyzing communication campaigns in corporate and public media, students can develop and promote creative strategies and creative execution and employ effective and clear communication in this diverse and customizable program.

As a student, you will learn to develop critical thinking and strategic communication in both a local and global landscape. After graduation, you can find exciting opportunities in career fields such as content creation, communications specialists, public relations specialists, and much more.

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre is a versatile and comprehensive liberal arts degree with courses in all the basic aspects of theatre. This degree contains a fairly equal balance of academic, technical, and performance courses and then allows the student to focus on whatever area of theatre interests them most.

Theatre (BFA) - Design

The BFA in Theatre Design is a very intense, full-time, demanding program offering specializations in scenic design, lighting design and costume design. Students work with award winning faculty designers in small group classes and one-on-one projects. The program includes Main Stage and Studio Theatre design opportunities, off-campus internships and a final senior project as well as workshops in resume and portfolio preparation. The Department of Theatre is a member of KCACTF (the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre. Admission is by portfolio and interview only. Theatre (BFA) - Performance

The BFA in acting is a very intense, full-time, demanding program which is designed to prepare student actors for a professional career or for further professional training. Students receive four years of performance training, along with taking a full complement of academic and technical theatre courses. They are afforded opportunities to perform in three different theatre spaces and to work with a variety of highly trained and qualified directors and designers. Students also receive instruction and practice in audition techniques and career preparation. The FIU Theatre Department is a member of KCACTF (the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
